Interviews

Just a note to any other CCers applying to Goucher...

I called today to arrange to have an interview at the college sometime within the next month. Much to my surprise, I found that I was not allowed to have an interview because I had already submitted my application. Apparently the interview sheet wouldn't get into my folder or something like that.

I was a little shocked. The deadline isn't for at least another few weeks, and I don't really understand why they wouldn't let me interview.

So- a word of caution. If you'd like to interview, and you haven't yet, interview before you submit your application. Otherwise you won't be able to.

i just called today and was told the same thing! im really annoyed... i couldn't get to goucher earlier. if you have something on your transcript that really needs explanation, you can always email an admissions rep and see if they would be willing to speak to you informally about discrepencies.
that's really frustrating though, i know how you feel!

I guess I'll have to write them a letter. x.x

The only reason I'm so annoyed is because they never mentioned this rule on their website... and also, it just doesn't make much sense to me.

Thanks. xD Good to know that someone can relate!

That's ridiculous! My daughter has an interview 2 days before the deadline. They never mentioned that when she scheduled it. It was scheduled about a month ago and they said that was the soonest date available. It seems like it would be wise to get the app in now. There's something not right about this. Guess we'll be calling too. Thanks for providing that info!

No problemo. And if any of you guys can figure this out, I'd appretiate it a lot. I was really looking forward to interviewing there.

I read in Pope's "Colleges that Change Lives" that Goucher does not give any weight to interviews. That it puts weight to essays.

We are visiting Goucher in April. I will be asking about this. My D is a hs jr and is very interested in it.

Ohh, what a relief. XD A lot of my friends have gotten into schools that they haven't interviewed at, but not interviewing makes me nervous. Not saying that I'm a real huge talker, but I think I come across well in interviews.

My essay was pretty good, at least by my standards.

Yes- definitely ask about this if she wants to interview. If I had known, I would have withheld my application until I'd gotten to interview. It's a bit of a strange/unique rule, but I suppose they have a reason behind it.
