Interviews

My D just got a call from a Mid rep to schedule an interview locally (Texas). Does everyone get an interview? If not, is this a good sign or am I reading too much into it?

Honestly, I think they try to interview as many applicants as possible. All four applicants at my school got interviews as did a friend from a different school...and I don't live in an area that is necessarily abundant with middlebury alumni.

OK, thanks for the info

The admissions office at Middlebury strives to offer every applicant an alumni interview.

Does the interview hold much weight in admission? I finished my app a few weeks ago and have yet to receive a call to concern an interview. Should i be worried?

An alumni interview won't make or break your chance at admission. It's more of an informational interview. If you haven't heard from an alum by the end of January (within the next 2 weeks), then you may want to call the admissions office to request one.

I don't think the interviews are just informational. The school wouldn't reach out and want to learn about students' interests if they did not want the meeting to be evaluative. I think a good interview can only help an applicant. If the interviewer thinks the student is a good Midd fit and lets the admin folks know this that is a positive . It also allows student a chance to get further insight into the school. My D is thrilled to meet the alum. Dana's Dad.

i hope youre right danalynne because my interview went really well..we talked for about two hours

I had mine yesterday, and it went really well. We talked for over an hour and a half, and then she gave me a ride to my dad's office because it was on her way home, which was unexpected but really nice. I thought I'd be more nervous since it was my first alumni interview, but it ended up just being like a casual conversation... at times I felt like I babbled a lot, but other than that it went great.
