I'm planning to have an interview at USC this year. Is it better to have an interview with someone of the undergraduate admission office (regular one) or someone from a specific major program (Marshall for example)?

And what are some typical questions they will ask you at the interviews.

Try to get an appointment directiy with Marshall- they have very few spots and fill up very quickly so try the first day they are available. If they are full, interview with admissions because that is your only other choice. Interviews are not considered highly because they are optional for most departments.

It really depends on who you get for the interview. My #2 son interviewed last year with admissions (couldn't get a Marshall appointment). The lady was very friendly and she went over his resume that he brought in. They also had some casual conversation on why he wanted to attend USC. (He got in.)

My #1 son interviewes with someone at Marshall a few years ago and the lady was very business-like and serious. Can't remember what he was asked, and I remember that he didn't feel good about the interview, but he got in also.

cc411, If you can find out what they asked it would be great. (I have an interview scheduled at Marshall) If it would be a hassle then no need. Just trying to prepare myself as best I can since my GPA and grades could be better. Therefore, I hope to make a good impression with the interviews. Do you mind posting your sons' stats? Thanks

S#1 was five years ago so it probably is not applicable now. He said he doesn't remember specifics except he was asked why he wanted to go to USC. S#2 said they just basically went over his activities on his resume. He was asked if he had any plans for the future. Sorry they don't remember more.

S#2 stats are on the thread, "Official Decisions..."
