Hey just wondering, how much dedication and skill does one need to play in an IM sports team? I'm thinking about going for ultimate frisbee or basketball, but I'm not particularly good at either...I'm not looking for competition at all, but just to play for fun.

Also, can everyone get into an IM team or are there actual tryouts?

Intramural sports are played against other people at Wash U. You can put together your own team, and you usually play one game a week, with little commitment beyond that. Its club level where you start having tryouts and serious time commitment.

It should also be noted that there are also a tons of club sports that don’t have try outs and you can choose your own commitment level.

@johnson181, really? Like which ones? Basketball ans frisbee among them?

The frisbee team is pretty intense. It’s really big, so its possible you could play on one of the lower teams, but the top team is crazy dedicated. The main difference you’ll have between IM and club is playing people from Wash U vs. from other colleges.
