<p>Is Berk-town good for intramural sports? Is it possible to participate (without suffering academically) during your first semester?</p>

<p>I don't think its the time, I think its actually the payment. At other schools like UC Davis IM's are FREEEEEEEEE, so the only thing you have to do is gather up a team, go online, fill out the form, and show up to games. At Berkeley, you have to gather up a team willing to pay the fees. For sports like B-ball, its 120 for 5 on 5. Add to the fact that the games are short and everyone wants to play so having a team of 12 is not going to work out. So you're looking at a team of 6 paying 20 bucks each to play. Worth it? Probably not.</p>
