Notre Dame intramurals are a perfect fit for kids who played a sport in high school and were pretty good at it, but either aren't at or don't want to play at the intercollegiate level. There are enough athletes up there to make it a pretty decent level of play. They practice a couple of times a week, then play for the love of the game--something high school kids may not have had the opportunity to enjoy for years!

I had a blast playing interhall. I still have my Lyons Hall football jersey. I was front line even though I'm not very big, because I knew how to hold and get away with it ;). We'd black our eyes with charcoal and march up South Quad to the football fields chanting "Lyons are WHAT? Red Hot! R-E-D H-O-T, red hot, red hot, red hot!" Whereupon we were promptly demolished, and spent the walk home discussing how they may have beaten us, but we were a lot prettier (which is pretty much what all girls' teams do when they lose :))

People post on these forums a lot about whether ND is a good place for people that don't care that much about sports. Certainly, there is a lot more to Notre Dame than that. Those who don't have a love for athletics, though, are missing out on some of the finest aspects of the place!

They also have the only "full-scale" (pads, tackling, etc...) intramural football in the country... so I've heard.

the full pads intramural league is what seriously made me want to go to ND as my first choice (kind of sad yeah) but i just couldnt imagine my life w/o the high intensity of full-padded fball in it and i dont want to waste my effort in h.s. at some crappy d-3 school so i could play football there...

i cant even imagine how competitive it is between the dorms!!! anyone have any experiences!!! ahhh i want to get in soooo bad!!!

When I visited the campus, they said that Intramural Football is very, very competitive, because the championship game is played in the stadium. Everyone wants a chance to play in Notre Dame Stadium!

I am truly not athletic enough to make the team (I am in a small dorm too) but trust that it is very competitive and means a lot. People from your dorm will come watch the games.

If I get into Notre Dame......this is one of the things I will be so excited for
Wow.......
