Intro to Macroeconomics

Hello. I took Intro to Macroecon at UPenn as a high schooler, and i had to withdraw the class because it was too confusing and I was too busy with college apps and high school. I am currently attending the University of Michigan and I am thinking about majoring in Econ. Would this be a smart idea?

How’d you do in HS econ? One of the challenges of transitioning to college from HS is how to manage workload. Some find college to be liberating – taking 4-5 classes, mostly of your choosing. However, college profs assign tons of work. But this will be the case whatever you choose as a major. Why worry about a UM class that is at best, 11 months away? it shouldn’t affect your admissions strategy today.

No. I am already a freshman at UM. I am thinking about taking Econ 101 there next semester, which is in less than 3 months.
My HS didn’t offer Econ.

It’s a great class. Or at least it was 20 years ago when I took it. It’s not easy though. Lots of B-school intenders in there so don’t expect an easy curve.

Yeah I took it last year…got a 65 on the 1st midterm and 25 on the 2nd one…so i’m not sure if I should major in Econ.

seems like a logical conclusion. Sorry about that – Econ was very simple for me but I know others who it confounded. Best of luck choosing another major

I’m still going to try Econ again next semester, if not, then I don’t know.
