I had my interview today with a Lawyer from the city, and it went great! It was very informal and we talked about everything from Chicago winds to Rutgers University. It was actually a lot of fun, really. And he was very impressed, I think. Good luck with yours! Just lay back and be yourself, and hope he/she isnt having a bad day, hehe.

Hey that's good to hear. I was wondering what you were expected to wear to the interview/ how formal should it be?

dress nice, but dont over-do yourself.
In my case, as soon as i walked in the conferece room of the firm where the interview was, the guy was like, "I want to make this as informal as i can." SO yea, I wore a dress shirt and pants (I initially wore a tie, but as I had to wait an hour at the train station, i chewed on it, so I thought it was best to take it off..).. but yea, a clean dress shirt and pants would suffice.
Tip: Dont sell yourself to the interviewer... and engage in a conversation, work your way in.. the worst thing that can happen are those awkward 2 minute silences..
and have fun! dont sweat it, they're nice

^^^^ and they're very "jingoistic"; they're proud to be from UCHICAGO!! keep the spirit

Do interviewers get to look at your whole application before interviewing you?

Nope. Interviewers (not on-campus interviewers, at least) know nothing about you in advance, aside from your name, town, and phone number.

The point of the interview is to be about something that's NOT grades and scores-- they do not and should not have to be a topic of conversation.

I'm glad you enjoyed your interview, physicsphun.

I had my interview last Saturday, and it was a lot of fun. My alum was really nice/funny and we talked about everything I thought was needed and some things that were a little random, but still enjoyable. The weird thing was, though, it only lasted around 20 minutes. Is that a bad sign? Because I thought we were having a really good conversation and it seemed like he cut it off pretty abruptly.

It prolly just means hes a busy guy.. like w/ my guy.. he's a big shot lawyer and i felt guilty bout wasting 40+ mins of his time, and we coulda gone much longer, but he had to go back to work haha so he just got up and was blunt about it.. and so i left him alone :(
and no, many people i tlaked to lasted abuot 15 mins.. so it is in no way a bad thing..
i'm glad you had fun.
