What departments does Iowa State have that are well known?

Wrestling.

Agriculture.

Engineering

Hah, I second the wrestling. :) I do believe ISU is known for being an A&M-type school, but I could be wrong.

"wrestling"
ahahaha

Well, I'm very familiar with Iowa State, as I live in Iowa!

I know they have a good Business department, and I've heard their Computer Science department is good (but I really don't know on that). They have a lot of weed out classes, and a friend of mine is going there and tuition is very affordable.

Well, I'm guessing their plants, botony whatever department that is exceptional because some idjits at the University of Iowa let the herbarium be stolen for Iowa State!

both my parents went there for grad school. they went there for sociology. im not sure if thats a strong area though.

Engineering + Agriculture (or Ag as some Iowans like to say)

For anything else Iowa has a bunch of LAC's spread about that i'd much rather attend then ISU

How is economics?

Don't know too much about their Economics department, but it looked like the faculty came from some very fine institutions.

Solid architecture school

Behind architecture and engineering, business is probably their strongest program, they have a pretty inovative economics program, but that's mainly domestic/consumer related economics.
