irons

are there irons / ironing boards in the laundry rooms or available anywhere else in the dorms?

jus bring 1

what about the ironing boards? is it really neccessary to bring one?

Its up to you. Do you like ironing on the floor/bed? I've seen a lot of ppl bring those table top ironing boards, they are small, so you can put them away easily, but it kinda gets annoying to have to iron on a little ironing board. You can always judt hang your clothes as soon as they get out of the dryer, that always works for me. So i guess its not neccessary, but it depends on what you want.

so there aren't any accessible for us to use in the dorms, correct?

I stayed in clark kerr last year and there were none. Your RA might have one, but dont count on it.

We bought our son a small tabletop/floor ironing board at Bed Bath and Beyond. He kept it in his little closet in the dorm. (Also we got him an iron with an automatic off timer, just in case he forgot :) ). The floor gets really dirty for ironing and the bed just isn't hard enough to get the wrinkles out.

Honestly, college kids don't iron things. If you hang your clothes immediately after drying, they'll come out reasonably flat. That's about all most people care about.

i foresee needing one, but i chose an alternative: i got a steamer.
they're pretty hard to find [i found mine at target] but that way you can basically just spray steam at your clothes as they hang up. my mom says they've worked well for her in the past...and it can also convert to an iron if i want it to, though i didn't et an ironing board.

shrugs if you find yourself needing an iron and don't end up bringing one, i'm sure there will be someone willing to loan you theirs?
