Irrelevant ECs?

Is it possible that I have irrelevant ECs?

I have invested so much time and energy into music, the trumpet especially, and I've gone to many honor bands and festivals in my time and selective summer programs and whatnot, but I don't want to do a music major in college. I'd like to major in biochemistry honestly, well, maybe not that, but I don't think music major would be my choice.

I basically have a 4.0 GPA and 2300 SATs, and this is my junior year, and I do have other ECs, but more than anything my ECs are heavily focused on music, and I think I'm going to apply to some Ivies and UCs and I'm an international applicant.

Is this a problem? If so, what can I do in my remaining 10 months (summer) to somewhat remedy it?

I don’t think ECs are ever irrelevant, even if you have no intention of pursuing them in college. ECs show admission committees that you’re a passionate individual and that you didn’t spend all your free time in high school twiddling your thumbs. While it probably looks even better if you’re able to continue some of your activities in college (it shows what you’ll contribute to their campus), you can do that in a number of ways. Although you don’t want to major in music, have you ever considered joining a band or musical ensemble there? Even if the answer is no, your ECs will never hurt you; they can only help.
