IRS Data Retrieval tool not working

When I try to use the DRT to import our tax information I get this message:
We are unable to provide you with your Federal Income Tax Information . Please contact the IRS Identity Protection Specialized Unit…

Could this be because a few years ago someone fraudulently submitted our fed tax, trying to get our refund? There is a number to call but of course no one answers over the weekend.

Same thing happened to us due to identity theft. Looks like we’re out of luck. I ended up manually entering in our info.

Absolutely fraud can put a block on any info going out from the IRS. A couple years ago the entire DRT was shut down because there was so much fraud and the DRT system was changed. The figures are no long visible to the student or parent.
