IRVINE decisions

Do the UCs release acceptance letters during the weekends?

how many transfers have received their acceptance letters???

I got UCI's on March 1st.
Political Science Major
61 units total by the end of Spring 2006
I'm taking some classes for my major this semester. I'm not sure if any go with UCI though. I just know I've completed the ones for Berkeley.
IGETC Completed Fall 2005
3.06 GPA- yeah I know that's pretty sad. But at least I got in CHYEA!!! Let's hope it gets me into Berkeley!!!
I'm guessing it's my personal statement that did it? Maybe not. [shrug]

Two of my friends transferring have gotten theirs too. Well one got the letter on March 1st and one hasn't gotten the letter but saw his acceptance online. The first one is an econ major and the second is a psych major and both have higher GPAs than me. They both submitted their apps about over a week before the deadline. I submitted it about a week before the deadline.

Wow you got in so early with a 3.06. Not that its a bad thing, I have a 3.05. Just shocked they chose you so early. Must be the IGETC.

I think it's just an example of the timing of when you receive a decision is not necessarily related to your stats.

yeah yeah.... hobo is right :D peace!

Hey, I found a contradicting information regarding the time of UCI's admission decisions:

"4/1-4/30/06 - UCI begins notification of Transfer admission status" on the right column of their official website: www.admissions.uci.edu

While on this page http://www.admissions.uci.edu/notification.html , it says:
"Transfer Applicants:
BEGINNING MARCH 1 and continuing through May 1, 2006, admission decisions will be posted electrically at MyAdmissionsApplication@UCI. An official letter will be sent to your current mailing address. All formal letters of notification will be mailed no later than May 1."

WHAT is THAT? Confusing!

That's already been addressed a bunch of times, Kevin. Obviously the second page is correct, as many tranfer applicants have reported receiving their decisions on here. Unless they are all lying, the calendar listing saying "4/1-4/30" was wrong, perhaps put up in error.

Nope not the IGETC. My friend has a way higher GPA than my other two friends and I and he applied for econ that my other friend got in with and his is still pending I believe. And all of us completed IGETC, my friend that did get in with econ though is still completing his IGETC. The way things look from my stats compared to my friends I'm guessing it was about the essays we wrote. I didn't read their essays though.

I dont think UCI puts a lot of weight or any at all on the essays. i could be wrong though.

I don't know what else they put the emphasis on though cause even my ec's sucked hard.

What are your ECs?

I don't remember everything but some were violin, internship at a dentistry, webdesign, and library volunteer. I think there was one or two more. But they were all dated to when I was still in highschool since they allowed ec's that go back to like 4 years ago or something. It might've helped a little though. [shrug]

My sister is also a fourth year biomed student there so that might've helped if they would've known? I'm not sure if those things are taken into consideration.

IamAPPREHENSIVE, I am a poli sci major as well. Do you know if the poli sci department at UCI is any good? I know close to nothing about the department or UCI in general. Do you have any friends who are already in the department? Who have already graduated? UCI might be my second choice if I don't get accepted to UCLA.

The friends I have there that I know the major of are mostly bio majors. I only know one person there that's a poli sci major there and he's just an acquaintance. I think UCI's Social Science or Poli Sci department is ranked like 35 or 36th in the nation. In my opinion I would say the UCs that have better poli sci departments would be UCB and UCLA. Maybe UCSD or UCR, but I don't know. Poli sci also can get split down to smaller departments from micro politics to macro politics to even smaller such as public law, american law, international law, etc. and you can rank the UCs differently on each one. So it would depend on what you want to use your BA for after you graduate. I want to go into Law School and either go into corporate law or international law so I would say Berkeley would be better at teaching me in those areas. But if you want the grades and the prestige of a school to get you into a good grad school UCI is still pretty good. I hear of UCI poli sci majors making it into USC Law, which is where I want to go, so I wouldn't mind if I end up going to UCI. It pretty much depends on how well YOU do when you get there to get you to where you want to go next.

I dont receive any letter from uci....I have4.0GPA..Econ major....why I dont receive any letter? My application has some problems????

ok so far I know two other people who got their letters the first day...March 1st

Person 1: EE
Person 2: Biochemistry

Just a reminder guys. Make sure you check your messages on the Irvine Message Center, perhaps daily. I know that because I'm taking my required math course this semester, they wanted my midterm grade for the class to make sure I wasn't slacking. They sent the email on Feb 24th, and I didn't get to checking it until the 28th. Thankfully, I saw the thread about Irvine decisions, and it prompted me to check up on the website.

Has anyone received information about financial aid from UCI? How do you get that info? My boyfriend got accepted but there was nothing about a financial aid package. From UCR he has a full ride? Are they sending it out later or something?

Dude, it's none of the above. It's a numbers thing. They have a lot of apps to get to.
