Is 30 on the ACT good for USC?

Hey,

I'm just wondering if a 30 is decent for USC? According to this thing, it says: that the range is 29-33 for admits, but only 28-32 for matriculants, so I'm wondering which one I should go off of.

<a href="http://www.usc.edu/admission/undergraduate/private/docs/admission/Freshman_Profile_2007.pdf%5B/url%5D">http://www.usc.edu/admission/undergraduate/private/docs/admission/Freshman_Profile_2007.pdf</a></p>

Also, is there any way to change what school I'm applying to after submitting the part 1 application? I was stupid and thought I wanted to do engineering, but have GREATLY changed my mind about that, and I was wondering how I can change my major. Also, is it significantly harder to get into viterbi than the other schools, especially since I don't have SAT 2s?

thanks!

-Your test scores are relative to the rest of your application. In general, 30 is a good ACT score, but, for example, if you have a 3.4 unweighted GPA, it is not a good score.

-It is OK to change your major in part II if you haven't submitted your application yet.

-It's difficult to answer your last question because it really depends... again... on your whole package. But do remember this- your application is first evaluated for admission to CLAS which includes undecided majors. If you are accepted, your app is then passed on to your first choice school (say it is Viterbi or Marshall) If you are not accepted to that school, you will still be sent an acceptance as undecided if you put that as a choice.

hey thanks cc. btw, I'm working on my app right now, and I was wondering if I can get in trouble for putting my weighted, instead of unweighted rank. My weighted rank is MUCH higher (17 out of 520 vs 31 out of 520), so I'd obviously want to put the higher one, but is that wrong?

Also, my GPA is 3.913 so far UW, so is that fairly decent for USC? Sorry for these questions, but I'm freaking out right now :(

I'm not positive about how to record your ranking, but my opinion is to put the higher rank. As long as that weighted ranking is on your transcript, I think it is fair to use that.

3.913 UW GPA and 30 ACT is good. As long as you have all the rest of your ducks lined up and good essays, you will be fine. Go watch the USC/UCLA game and relax. The game is going well for USC for now.

well how about this, how about I just post my stats so you can get a better evaluation of me as a whole:

btw, there are a couple ECs I don't have on here (because I forgot them) but I have on my app, a big one is a religious group I attend.

Your GPA is a strong plus as are your class selections. Your ec's also look good on paper. Statistically, you should get in- but, of course, you never know for sure. Good luck.
