How much emphasis does WUSTL admissions place on GPA? I'm really worried about applying cuz i only had total of 4 hp/ap's in 10th and 11th grades combined and lot of b's in 10th. Even tho my grades improved within the 2 years, I still think my chances are low. If I take 5 ap's in senior year and get a's in them, will that look good enough to adcom? My SAT is 1810 right now but I'll retake it and hopefully break 2nd millenium mark. Can someone plz chance me based on those stats?

People have gotten in with that GPA. Just make sure you have good ECs and a great essay. If you want to get in bad enough, interview and apply ED. Don’t know about the SAT score…because I took the ACT only. But it does sound a bit low by WashU standards so definitely improve that.

WUSTL looks like a low reach with any SAT score below 2000 and that GPA. If you can get your SATs over 2000, say, 2100, I’d say it’s a high match.

your class schedule seems fine to me, even if you did get a few more b’s than you would like. The SAT is a little low though. Get it about 2000 and you have a better chance of getting in, and above 2100 would make WUSTL a match, assuming you have a good essay, ecs, have shown interest, etc.

thx everyone, i really appreciate your input

Your SAT scores are too low, even for the standards of an international student, I hope you pass the 2000 mark. I was in a similar position as you were, I had a very low average GPA for the 9th grade and I made great improvements every year while taking the Full IB program. And your extracurricular activities are really important for getting accepted into WU, because they do look for a lot of diversity.

My friend went to an essay writing session at Wash U a few weeks ago. The admissions rep that conducted the session said that your gpa is the most important part of your application at Wash U and most other schools. As for a 3.7, that could go either way, as long as you hold leadership positions, do other things, etc. I would definitely retake the SAT too. Good luck!

a 3.7 is competitive; hardly overwhelming, but competitive. THe SAT score is poor for WashU.

average unweighted is 3.83, average weighted is 4.3 something, you’re not far off, but you’re not exactly in the wheel house either
