Is 8am a reasonable time to start classes, or do you recommend 9 am

Is 8am a reasonable time to start classes, or do you recommend 9 am?

what classes start at 8? any engineering classes in particular?

btw, michael carrick aint worth 34 mil.

Math 191 ( a lot of times)

btw you are probably right. I wish we could get some good players from AC Milan. Or would an alternating schedule of 8am and then 9am and again 8am so on... be better.

I am also attempting to end all of my classes by 3:30.

if you're a morning person, 8 am is fine. if you want to get your 8+ hrs of sleep like Prof. Maas says, that means you would have to go to bed around 11pm, which is before midnight, which is hard to do in college. i personally prefer 10am classes.

but especially freshmen year, 8am is not too hard to do. it gets harder after that.

I wouldn't recommend it....9:00 is fine though.

all my classes were 9:00 last semester with the exception of friday, when I had an 8:00 section. It was really hard to get up for the section, and a couple times I ended up going to a different one.

munited, who is the best professor for 191? a lot of them didnt show up on ratemyprofessor. out of the ones that showed up, de boer had the best rating. Any input?

ummm i say 10 oclock is good for me.

I typically aim for 10 or later.

Don't do 8. 9 works for some people, 10 works for everyone, 8 works for the very few. You can try it out and add/drop later but you often won't be able to add a later class (because everyone else will have signed up for it... to avoid the 8 o clock one).

yea, ill try and aim for the old 9'oclock.

I think a starting time of 9AM or 10AM is ideal. The most important thing to me is that it remains somewhat constant. As of right now, class starts at 10:00AM every day (hehe).

i've set up my schedule so that the earliest i'm in class is 10 and the latest i'm out is 2:15

10-20 mintues btwn classes, is that a good idea?

15 min, actually. what's wrong with that?

just wondering

Class times depend a lot. For example, I have a class that will likely be near north campus and 15 minutes later a class in collegetown. Unless I come up with a trick, it looks like I'll have a refreshing mid-morning run twice a week :P

Yeah, 8 AM classes are bad. I had an 8 AM section once and the TA would show up hung over and tell us not to come anymore. Also, as winter draws near, 8 AM seems earlier and earlier and pretty soon it seems like you are in class before the sun comes up. I know that everyone thinks "oh high school started at 7:30 so 8 will be no problem." That's what I thought too. The college life is different. You will want to party until all hours. You will have AEM majors living next to you playing video games until 3 AM because they have no classes 4 days a week. Your roommate might even be one of the aforementioned. Go as late as you can. Trust me.

i took an 8 am last year and wont do it again (and most kids agree). 9 is ok but still early. many kids set up their classes for the afternoon. i like having hte afternoon free for labs/studying, so i usually try to start classes at 10. youll have 15 mins between two classes which is usually enough, but you may be rushing to get to engineering courses.

i believe they are giving freshmen free bus passes again. so take advantage off that when you go from north campus to the engineering quad.

good one there aloe. i was thinking about getting a bike actually. now ill just save that money for a car next year.

anyway, as i was saying before, any good math 191 professors besides de boer?
also, is there only 1 professor for physics 112?

who is better? fan or gries?
thanks
