i got a 4 on apush and eng lang and comp
should i even report these scores?

It won’t particularly hurt you, especially if you have many 5s

The 4 on Lang will not get you credit at Princeton.

^ ugh that sucks.
my school doesnt offer many ap classes.
i only took three…and surprisingly that was the most out of any junior.
next year i will take the only three that are available for me to take.

I doubt Princeton takes AP scores under consideration for admissions. Even 5s rarely get you out of a course once you get in (something my D figured out after getting accepted and getting 5s on just about every AP she took).

During the application process, admissions never asks for AP score confirmation. All that matters is that you’re taking the hardest course schedule your school offers and that you get top grades in those classes.

An AP score of 4 seems like a fine score, IMO.

It’s good that you took the classes because a tough courseload is something colleges consider, I don’t believe what scores you got on them matter much in terms of admission. It probably won’t get you credit but that’s okay a 4 in most subjects is nothing to sneeze at and at least you learned something in them (I hope).

^So having 8 5s on AP exams is not a benefit during the admissions process?

Why would it be? It’s not like it makes you special at all.

It depends.
In case you take multiple AP classes at school and get multiple 4’s and 5’s in those AP exams, it is not too big a deal, as many applicants would be in the same shoes. However, if your school offers very few or no ap courses but you selfstudy a few and get 4/5’s on them, it certainly is a significant accomplishment, especially when those courses are toughies. In that case, you should try to stress that fact somewhere in your application.

Well then, since our AP exams are $92.00 each (!), it would make more sense to take the course, but skip the exam. Correct?

The top private schools are $50-55k per year. Just FYI, since money is a big deal for you and you don’t have your exam fees waived.

^Thanks for the info. Just FYI, that’s why we’re focusing on colleges that guarantee to meet financial need.

If you have financial need, then get those exam fees waived.

Reading FTW.

I got three 4s and a 5 on APs and got in, so a 4 definitely isn’t the end of the world.

^lol thanks.
