Is a 650 possible?

Hello:

I'm new to this site and am entering my Junior year of High School. Last month I started SAT prep on my own and happen to have difficulty with the math section. My diagnostic test score on was a 540 and I want a 650. Unfortunately, while some concepts click, others don't; in the program that I'm using (TheEdge) and the examples are very confusing, even in the CR and Writing section (luckily I'm very good at both anyway). Is there a person who's been in my same situation and has gotten 650/650+?

Would you recommend Gruber's or another book for large improvement on math section that has clear examples? Many people tell me that with each practice test they take, they see their composite go up each time. I'm a very determined person and am willing to take a lot of practice tests. Do you think with more practice, it'll come easier? Like I said before, my strengths are in CR and Writing.

Pretty much any test prep book should do (although I’m iffy about Kaplan – caught a bunch of errors on a practice AP Calculus test once).

I suggest doing a practice test or two and seeing which types of questions you consistently miss. Then review those topics.
