My son got a call from an admissions rep at the school he most wants to attend. They asked a few questions about what his favorite subject was, his extracurriculars, was this his first choice school, signing up for housing, and other general topics.

Would this be considered a good sign, or do all school call all applicants like this? This is a large school with over 20,000 applicants annually.

Yes. my son has been accepted to two schools so far (safeties for him). And both of those he got calls from before he was accepted.

Marist College loves to connect with students, so a phone call is usually good news! You should be excited!

It’s a good sign. Congrats to your son.

My brother experienced the same thing when he applied to Texas Tech, but he ultimately ended up getting in. You should be fine, especially considering that they’re already asking about housing :)

Thanks so much for the positive feedback. Fingers crossed! I don’t know if it’s just my poor memory or not, but the college admissions process seems much more complicated and stressful now than it was in 1979. I don’t recall any of these concerns. I don’t remember writing an essay, worrying about my test scores and extracurricular activities, none of that. Either things have changed a lot or it’s gotten way more competitive and complicated. Good luck to all!
