S had a phone interview yesterday, is this a good sign? I really like Bennington and would love it if my s got in. He has 3.7 and 1900 SAT but I know this is a very competitive college.

That actually is great thing. Did they offer the phone interview or did he ask?

They emailed him and asked for an interview. It was 30 minutes long, he did a lot of laughing and he told me he enjoyed the interview. S told me the person was really nice and they talked about his Bennington essay. He came away very positive about the interview. I hope this is a good sign.

I think it is a very good sign, especially if he felt it went well. Before I sent in my application, I came up for a tour and did an interview as well. After they got my application they called and wanted a phone interview. I also felt like I really connected with the person I talked to, and enjoyed the conversation. I think they only do that when they are seriously considering you (don't quote me on that, just my sense of the process). Good Luck!!

Thank you both for such a quick responce! Now I am really happy as this is one of the colleges I really wanted my son to look at. My mom passed away the same year my son was born and she always went to visit Bennington every time she was in the area. She thought it was the most gorgeous campus she had ever seen. I bet she was smiling during that interview. I am really excited now about the possibilty of my son getting in!

Just 23 more days! I do hope he gets loves it and gets in!

Thanks and I really hope you get in! If son gets in, we are planning a trip to go and visit the college. I do hope he gets in.

My son did a half-day campus interview in Oct., then was askd to meet with someone from admissions in Philly in Feb - close to an hour session with him, then us (parents). Would the second interview be the same as a telephone interview?

My son visited in Oct. and interviewed then. Two weeks ago he received both a phone and an e-mail with a request for a second interview. He interviewed with a student last Tues. He received his acceptance in the mail on Friday. He was very excited, Bennington is his top choice.

Good luck to you both, I have been lurking for many months and have learned lots from your posts.

Yes, I would think that the in person interview is the same thing as the phone interview, they probably just have someone in the area right now, so they are doing it that way. Congratulations to your son mest! I hope he has as good an experience as I have. And good luck to all of the rest of you too.

thank you allthosethings- Your comments on Bennington have been helpful to us. S received a box in the mail today from Bennington with a cookie, frisbee and maple syrup with an invitation to visit. There was also another invitation to visit. S has been accepted to another school, but Bennington has been more personal in their response to him.

Oh that is so cool. Now I can't wait to hear about whether son gets in. While he has already gotten in to four colleges, he really is in no hurry to make a decision until he hears from a few more. I do know he talked about his interview with a Bennington representative with his friends. The wait is really hard!

Son got the offer letter, though we have to wait a week to find out whether they offer us 'tuition exchange'. My wife and I are both professors. Both of us are with LACs and both of us loved Bennington.
