So I got a 31 on the ACT and my scores are pretty disproportionate (34,25,34,29). I was going to apply RD to the Planning in AAP dept. My extracurriculars and essays are strong and I have a somewhat unique background I’d say. (If they consider being gender non comforing that interesting). Am I completely ruled out by having this score. Fwiw, I took an intensive tutoring class before that test date. My past two tests were a 28 and 27 respectively (no superscore) so there is little chance of raising it.
Am I aiming too high? What are some other options? Would a LAC be better?
Thanks for helping me out! I’m sure others have this score too…
It’s 25th percentile or thereabouts, so I wouldn’t say you’re wasting your time. But you should also be applying to match and safety schools.
My son had a 30 and was accepted. Depends on so much. Just write good essays. It’s a crapshoot for anyone. You have a shot.
@3artkid3 please look at my first post. I would also recommend that when your high school sends your transcript, you tell them you do not want any of your scores on it. My son’s school had every score he ever took. They will get the score from collegeboard so I would just make sure your high school transcript doesn’t have all of them on there. By the way, my son’s first score was a 26. It’s really about the whole person. Please don’t put all your weight on this score.
For AAP a 31 puts you in the running. Not sure how things work for Planning, but for Art and Architecture the portfolio matters a lot.
