I'm pretty confused here. The visa is a required field in the application, and there is no option for none (although there is undocumented). I'm an international student, I don't hold a US visa of any kind. Is it required to have one before applying, or am I supposed to check undocumented?

@wbasbc my D applied to Pratt as a US citizen so we have no experience in this area so take this advice for what it’s worth

A quick perusal of the Pratt website suggests that the I-20/DS-2019 and visa and all that pertain to students already planning to enroll. The admissions page lists several requirements for international students but none includes needing a visa in order to apply. Finally, and here I’m a bit more shaky, it looks like you need Pratt to issue the I-20 or DS-2019 first before getting your visa? But you can’t get Pratt to do that until you can login to your portal . . . which you can’t do if you haven’t even applied and been accepted yet. Long story short - it would appear that you do NOT need a visa to apply. You do, however, need a visa in order to come to the US to study. And that seems to be something that the school helps you to obtain.

You need to be accepted by a US school first in order to apply for a US student visa.

But if u are an undocumented student, then check the undocumented box.
