Is anyone a Notre Dame Scholar?

Hey guys, I posted this somewhere else but didn't get too many responses. I was just wondering if any of you acceptees were also named a ND scholar. I'm not sure what it means exactly, and am curious to find out. I was hoping it would lead to some $, but that's just wishful thinking:)

I was too. Like you, I have no idea what it means...

haha i'll answer it again, i got it EA, and it's just a distinction, nothing more. They give it to the top 10% of the applicant pool. I called and asked and they said before they did need-blind financial aid, the ND scholar distinction gave you a preferred fin aid package, but not anymore. If you got it, just give yourself a pat on the back, and that's about all you'll get.

My D got NDS designation, and got in EA like Andrew. I agree with what Andrew said, except I understand it means in top 20% of admitted students. Supposedly they tilt aid packages of NDS students more toward grant than they otherwise would. Sounds good too, no?

I talked with a current student who is a Notre Dame scholar, and he said that he got preferred status in choosing classes... (ie. if a class was very competitive to get into, he had a better chance of getting in).

My kid was name a scholar and then we got the aid package...

It was tilted to a scholarship rather than loans; it looks like they tossed in about $1500 extra (based on our efc and the Wash U/Emory offers). That may be the scholar designation or it may be slightly different institutional methodologies of the various places.

got that too. but i havent seen my fin aid package yet so cant tell if that actually helped at all.. since my efc for northwestern was 40k.
