I'd like to go to UCR, why do you think I shouldn't?

For starters, have you been accepted to other UC schools?

Yes, I've been accepted to UCLA and UCSF, but the Riverside area seems a lot more desirable.

i am considering it like 10%
i got a scholarship tutition only
i got into all the ucs except ucb
major:bioE or EE at the UCs and chemE at ucla

Lsmith, can you explain how you were accepted to UCSF?

Congratulations on your acceptances. I'm glad to hear you're not considering UCR highly.

UCRGrad

Sorry, misprint, UCSD.

What is so "desirable" about the Riverside area?

UCRGrad

ucr is hella underrated...thier science programs are getting better and better
i dont like it when people regard ucr as a crappy school or a second tier school
ucr is only goin to go up

"ucr is hella underrated...thier science programs are getting better and better"

Too bad their rankings are getting lower and lower

"i dont like it when people regard ucr as a crappy school or a second tier school ucr is only goin to go up"

I disagree with that statement, because UCR is definitely a THIRD tier school (in CA).

UCRGrad

lol^ i've never met a UCR grad who didn't regret attending... that's a sign

Geez, what makes you an expert? What are you some kind of doctor or something?

I am here to make sure people make informed choices. That's all.

I didn't apply to riverside..for me it's a secondrate Davis.

The town of riverside from what i've seen and heard is really unsafe, I wouldn't want to have an apartment there for 3 years, the gangs there are really brutual, if I wanted that I'd live in Watts..

All I'm saying is that UCR would be the best option for me since I can still live at home and walk to school every day from my trailer. On a smogless day the campus is quite beautiful. It's either there or Lake Superior State University. Which do you think is better? I really don't want to go to UCLA or UCSD.

Do you think living at home would help you develop strong independence and a solid social network? Or are you planning on living with your parents until you're 30?

UCRGrad

I'm not living with my parents, I own the trailer.

Let me get this straight. You're in HS, you own the trailer you live in, and you don't live with your parents. ...and you want to go to UCR??

UCRGrad

Yeah, I own it, my parents ran away and left it to me, and I live here alone. I maintain it by working part-time at Target. Now, what is so wrong with UCR??? I'm thinking of doing pre-med, do you know anything of that program?
