It’s taking a long time and all of my requirements are in but I’m starting to get a little worried. They said that their goal is to have them all done before May 1st but I don’t know what to do if that doesn’t happen. It’s my first choice but we are a low-income family so I have to look at money before making a decision. Any information helps!

Oh my god! I thought I was the only one going through this horror! It’s been so stressful and I’ve had to talk to them on the phone like every day and I’m kind of worried :o
they had me send in some additional documents so I’m officially done with my to do list but this was only fulfilled last week so I’m not sure if I can get my package on time, but I’ve been emailing them so I hope I get it atleast next week and yeah I’m honestly dying since UVA is my top too :((

Yeah I had my documents done last week too but then yesterday they added another one out of nowhere because they though it wasn’t the whole thing but it was so now my latest processed document is from yesterday which worries me. And yeah UVA is my top too which is why this is bothering me so much!!! They told me that their goal is to get all of them done before May 1st. I just don’t know what would happen if they don’t give a package before May 1st.
a bunch of people on Facebook said they’re going to start posting some on Fridays so I think they really want them all done by 5/1! we’ll just have to wait :-S
Still waiting here as well. Did just get an email from financial aid saying we would get an email saying it is available to view.
Still waiting. We submitted FAFSA and CSS in February. They asked for additional documents and we responded quickly every time. There is nothing in the to do list. I really can’t even express how stressful and disheartening it is not to have any information. We cannot make a decision without knowing how much it costs. My daughter was so excited to get into UVa. I had no idea that a month later we would still be waiting to know if she can go.
I would request an extension in writing for UVa’s admissions deadline and the deadline of your other leading choice for a college, to keep your options open.
I completely agree with you. I am still waiting as well and now the only option that is left is getting it on Friday which is terrifying in itself. I really want to go to UVA and this is the only thing that is holding me back from committing. I hope it ends up working out. I talked to one student who attends UVA yesterday and he told me that he never got his financial aid until the day that classes began but he was a special case. Well the point is that he still committed even without knowing so I guess that’s an option. I’m just really impatient now though.
I don’t understand what many of you are fretting about. The FAFSA automatically lets you know what the EFC is so you should base your decision on the reported EFC. I don’t think it is likely that some magic pot of gold will come through that knocks down the amount you would have to pay significantly. If you really are low income, the FSFSA will accurately post for you a low EFC.
Schools don’t have to follow the FAFSA EFC. They produce their own estimate and you just never know how much they are willing to pay.
Yes, UVa uses its own formula, which is why they require more info to be submitted than is on the fafsa.
Many other universities say they use the Fafsa EFC, but they leave a huge unfunded gap in the aid they provide, and tell families to take out PLUS loans to cover the difference.
@vjstangelo Our family’s EFC is 0, but UVa calculates its own EFC and that has been higher for the past two years.
Still don’t see any financial aid listed in SIS. When is deadline to see this? By May 1st? And should we just be clicking on “view financial aid” ?

Yes, everything was on time. I called Fin Aid office today, they found my name and said it would be released today, but still nothing in SIS.
