I haven't, and I'm getting nervous seeing everyone else talking about theirs! I'm very anxious to get mine and see if I can actually attend...fingers crossed!!

I haven’t either. I believe a majority of people haven’t, though, as if I remember reading correctly most of the financial aid offers will be ready tomorrow.

My son still hasn’t received his, and we completed everything way ahead of the priority deadline and have had nothing on the “to do” list for 6 weeks. I do plan to call if it isn’t up today. I agree–it is nervewracking!

I just called the Financial Aid Office, and the computer SIS is treating my son as a returning student…he has taken several classes at UVA over the past couple years, so his financial aid package apparently isn’t scheduled to be ready until summer:(. He may have to eliminate UVA from his list of options; we were hoping to vet choices this week. May 1st will be here before we know it. I did not think that successfully completing UVA courses would be a detriment to my son. As I explained to the person I spoke to, my son is not considered by UVA admissions to be a returning student. He had to apply for admission like any other prospective first year student. I must say, this is disappointing.

I’m trying to look into this and the SFS person with whom we’re in contact is not aware of this case. Can you email me (deanj at virginia dot edu) and let me know your name? We haven’t heard of this happening before and we have plenty of students who take classes here over the summer.

Just got a call from someone different at Financial Aid. She let me know that my son is being “packaged” and should hear by Friday. What a relief!

My daughter has not received financial aid and I just talked to someone at UVA who told me that because they just received a form we submitted yesterday it will take 3 - 4 weeks. This is a form verifying that a sibling is enrolled in college that UVA requested last week. I had everything else filed in February. This seems unfair. Also, this daughter has a twin sibling who already received her aid packages from 4 colleges. Great aid from Northwestern!

Hooray!

If anyone else feels they are having this same problem (took classes in the summer), please call the aid folks and also let me know so I can look into it, too!

Whew! Got to the bottom of this. It looks like the person who took the call didn’t look at the right screen on the system. The start year for the student involved was correct, but the person didn’t see that. They just saw past undergraduate work and thought the student was a returning one.

Sorry for the worry!

Thanks so much, Dean J!!

So if we don’t have our aid packages by the end of the day, should we call? I had my noncustodial parent submit tax returns in early March, but everything else was submitted in early/mid-February and I have not gotten my aid package yet.

They don’t require your noncustodial parent’s tax returns, so that shouldn’t have any bearing on when you’ll receive your FA package.

I thought they did?

Well that’s not good; my noncustodial parent has a significantly higher income than my custodial parent (which would affect my aid package), but I know that my noncustodial parent will not pay anything for my college, period. Hopefully that won’t affect my aid package too much, or else I might have to say goodbye to UVa… =/

I have yet to receive my aid as well, but they told me my materials were all received by March 22nd, so I think I still have to wait a few weeks.

Still No FA pkg here. Called last Friday and UVA confirmed they received all info in Jan/Feb and her FA pkg was in review (no complicated financial issues - other schools provided FA pkgs already). Spring break is half over at this point. DOTL sessions are closed… My DD is losing interest in UVA to say the least. Getting that feeling of what she imagines it will be like at a larger school where she NOW envisions being continually closed out of things (like class registration) and having to fight to be noticed.

Anyone else still waiting?

jerzgrlmom, through my scary experience yesterday (Thanks again, Dean J!) I learned that Financial Aid will be posting packages that are ready on Thursday night. So, if your packagage is ready, you should be able to see it Friday. I too am anxious about the wait. We are waiting on UVA and William and Mary (my son’s two top choices). He is busy working on the Legacy Scholarship now (keeping our fingers crossed for good news on the financial front!). We have the other FA packages and have tentatively selected one of those schools if for some reason UVA and/or W&M aren’t competitive.

I can’t believe spring break is almost over!!

The financial aid package has arrived on SiS!

I still haven’t seen mine on SiS. As I am out of state, FA is of vital importance.

Same but its because I had to send in tax return forms. Can anyone tell me how long it will take uva to update that it received them because I sent them out a week ago and it is still on my To Do List :/

They say 3-4 weeks after they acknowledge receipt. That was about right for us.
