Is anyone else tired of

people from other parts of the word looking down on Americans as idiots, thinking we are all arrogant *****, then turning around and coming to college here because we have the BEST academic institutions?

With respect given to the Cambridges, Oxfords, etc.

People from other countries should know that not all of us are like what is portrayed on TV.

…no…

Actually, the more common stereotype is that we are fat, lazy, and greedy.

We’re also materialistic.

It gets pretty annoying. The average person that I know is neither stupid nor fat nor lazy. Unfortunately, the minority of loudmouthed tourists and hateful bigots who grab media attention are all the outside world sees of us.

^Well, unfortunately, you haven’t been introduced to 66% of Americans. Let’s face it, we eat too much Mcdonalds.

Yeah, I agree. Americans are fat (or at least fatter than other countries).

It’s because fast food is so cheap here. In other countries, McDonalds is more expensive.

http://cs-willy.com/overlooked/wp-content/uploads/2006/06/TheMainDifferenceBetweenEuropeAndUSA.jpg

Mmmm… that cheeseburger looks tasty!

Let me put it this way:

American teenagers as a whole are the stupidest, most rude, arrogant, and unmotivated kids in the entire world.

As an international, that’s certainly the perception here although I try to dispel it.

people from other parts of the word looking down on Americans as idiots, thinking we are all arrogant *****, then turning around and coming to college here because we have the BEST academic institutions?

^ is it me or did you just answer your own ***ing question? *gasp

people like you annoy me. go away.

“American teenagers as a whole are the stupidest, most rude, arrogant, and unmotivated kids in the entire world.”

have u met the ‘whole of American teenagers’? uh, no. until then, keep your mouth shut.

@yoursky
How did that answer my question. Apparently it blocks the name of a common Athletic Dept store.

People who go out of their way to respond to a post and say, “you annoy me. go away”, annoy me.

I think teenagers are all similar (to a degree). No matter where they are from.

But we are indeed materialistic. Because who doesn’t like cool stuff?

i dont think the world’s perception of us is really that bad. When I moved over to England for 6 months I was afraid that same thing would happen and they would all judge me but at my school they actually LOVE the U.S. They think it, and its people, are amazing.

Lol, I play xbox a lot and all the british kids hate americans with a passion. I’m kinda fat, but they say everyone eats mcdonalds… lmfaoo.

Saugus’ point exactly.

Yes, I am tired of idiotic arrogant people who don’t bother to finish their sentence in the thread title.

Exactly how can one be tired of someones’ opinion? He may possibly have a psychological problem and I can refer to an excellent psychologist should it be necessary.

Should it want to be avoided, in the future, I would suggest the use of ignorance to repel such psychological attacks upon your thinking sphere.

^In that case, I would like to recommend you to a psychologist who treats arrogant psycho-analytical individuals.

^ Although I see no need to visit one, I will gladly take the recommendation should, in case, I or a friend need one in the nearby future. Thank you.
