I was just watching the national spelling bee, which, while quite boring, is impressive considering the words are really hard and confusing. I would have probably been out like the 1st word, hahaha

So, did anyone on here actually participate in that? Just curious o.ob

I never made it to the national bee, but I was #2 in my school district in 9th grade. I got cheated out so badly and I cried for like 3 hours.
The person before me in the final 3 incorrectly spelled “bionanobattery.” So my confidence level shot up and then it was my turn. If I got it wrong, the other person had to spell their word right and then they won.

Well, to put it short, I got “Sacchariferous.”

Totally failed. I spelled it with a “k.” I wanted to cry. So I was hoping my opponent would get a really really hard one and give me another chance.

Sure enogh, he got “postpone.” And he pretended to stumble on it just to be a jerk.

I was soooo mad.

He made it to state but not to the national bee.

I spelled lacrosse wrong. Still remember it to this day. I accidentally said two “c’s” realized my mistake at the “o” and almost cried my eyes out that day

Anurag Kashap (or however it is spelled) went to my middle school when he won the national spelling bee lol. He got to speak at grad since he won haha.

I’ve never been in the national one, but in a school contest in fifth grade, I nearly got to the top three… I spelled “taupe” wrong. I knew the word, but not how it was pronounced, so when I heard it, I didn’t recognize it. I’m still irritated by it to this day. :P

I never did the spelling bee but when I was in eight grade I was eighth in the state in the Geography Bee. I won the school on twice in a row also.
