Purdue. I’ve been going to Purdue football games since I can remember. When I was really young, I was dressed up as a Purdue cheerleader for Halloween. My interest faded for a bit, but then I decided that I wanted to be an engineer, so it was all about Purdue again. I can totally see myself there and daydream about it a lot. It’ll be all kinds of bad if I don’t get in.

West Point :)

I just love everything about it, from the pageantry, to the strong bonds you make, to knowing you will really make a difference in the world!

Mine changes.

When I was younger (like, around 6-7), it was Georgia Tech. My brother and sister both graduated from there, and I pretty much wanted to copy them in every aspect.

When I was a bit older (and still now) it was Yale. My dad went there, so I have a legacy advantage. My brother and sister were both rejected from Yale, but my grades/achievements are significantly better than theirs were, so… we’ll see.

But also, I’ve been ridiculously [RIDICULOUSLY] obsessed with Caltech. No chance of getting in, but it won’t hurt to try.

Ssstaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaanfooooooooorrrrdddddddddddddddd…

Wow everyone looooves stanford. I bet one of you at most gets accepted, not to be a downer, just statistically speaking you have to be real. Have some other options and fall in love with a school at least after you get in.

Well jkaufman you forgot you are in CC.

Everyone knows that it has been scientifically and religiously proven that CC’ers have 3~4 times the chance of other “commoners” when it comes to acceptance to HYPS and such.

Don’t have a first choice but I’m still applying early somewhere. Hopefully I’ll have plenty of places to choose from in May.

When I was a little 7 year old, I liked Harvard. But then I realized how much I detested Harvard.

Brown. I love Brown. If I got into Brown I would dance and scream loud enough to break sound barriers.

So far, it has been like that, however, being a CCer doesn’t make you more likely to get into a good college!

We populate the top colleges.

DEVRY!!!

But seriously, I’ve wanted to go to Williams since forever(2003)(7?), well ever since my sister went there. The only downside I can see is the spread out campus and lack of large town. Which are the 2 reasons I’ve been leaning towards Am[h]erst >/ despite my huge bias against it.

I like a lot of other schools [Brown, Hampshire, UVM…] but that’s the one I’ve wanted forever.

It’s good to be in love with a college, even if it’s a long hope. We all know we have little chance of getting in, but it’s good to dream. Dream big or die small.

Funny story:

Last year, Stanford, and I despised Yale for some reason which I cannot recall (I know, blasphemous).

Now, Yale! However, the biggest issues I have with Stanford now are the fact that firstly, the campus is so vast and only accessible by bicycle, whereas Yale’s campus is easily accessible by walking.

Secondly, because of its distance from my home and family in Toronto, Canada (Yale = 9 hours away; Stanford = 3 full days of driving).

Thirdly, I think that I would like to talk about all the things I’m learning both inside and out of the classroom to my classmates rather than keep it to myself (at Stanford, a generalization is frequently employed with regards to its students and their ‘laid-back’ attitudes towards school etc.). I know myself well enough to assert that being more open–gushingly so–with my peers would be a healthier environment for me.

Lastly, the fact that the season’s have less variation (I love Winter just as much as I love Summer).

To me, however, the following are Yale’s finest (and selling) points, which although generally not unique to the College itself, together make mine (and apparently many others’) top choice of undergraduate education, and all that comes with it:
-Its Residential College system, merely for the fact that it includes music practice rooms–I’m a pianist, and keeping up my technique would be impossible at MOST other colleges–but really for the sense of community instilled into the atmosphere (I visited my cousin last month). It was incredible, and drew several parallels to Hogwarts, but featured more. I was in total awe.
-The fact that people love Yale, and love it to death. If you have a bit of time to spare (you likely do if you’ve reached this point in my post), check out this thread, especially the two-part article entitled ‘The Cult of Yale’: [The Cult of Yale - College Confidential](http://■■■■■■/aKIt7B)
-The amount of money made available to students for social activities, events and projects, as well as its other vast resources.
-For most students, the fact that the surrounding area provides students with many an opportunity for community involvement.
-Uniquely Yale, the SHOPPING PERIOD! Another Yale-only event, Master’s teas.
-Although it’s not located in a major Metropolis, but rather a city, it’s tucked just far enough away to exhibit benefits of privacy. However, it’s only a two-hour train ride to EITHER Boston or New York City. Also, students get subsidized trains, as well as pretty much everything else on and around campus, including food, books, merchandise…
-It’s internationally need-blind. It meets 100% of demonstrated need. It’s selective enough that the admissions committee can essentially hand-pick the most colourful group of students every year.
-Its career services, e.g. internships, study abroad programs.
-Brilliant professors, coupled with the support they offer their students.
-Computer clusters, the University Art Gallery, the stunning architecture (BREATHTAKING)
-Lots, lots more.

I’m not applying early, but that’s simply because I cancelled my October SATs in favour of more study time (Yale don’t accept no stinkin’ 2170s–well, once in a blue moon)

Hope you all found this helpful, and good luck with your applications!

P.S. I’m obsessed enough with Yale that I actually considered not posting this, in fear of over-selling the school and garnering competition with regards to Yale’s applicant pool.

P.P.S. If there was some way of showing this to a Yale admissions officer, my chances would likely be heightened…

OMG, I love Yale for exactly those reasons as well!!! Its the most amazing school in the world!! Have you visited? If you do, you will fall in love with it even more though it doesnt seem possible!!!

Hahah, agreed! And I’m visiting next week! I’m so excited now!

keep it in your pants, bro

lmao, Yale is just that exciting!

Ive been dreaming of Georgetown, or NYU. They are reaches but a man can dream eh? :p

omg stop it, AustinLandry. You’re making this obsession worse for me.

I want to go anywhere where i can have my own dorm room. But not in the country. Maybe it would be fun to go to a college in the city. Then you wouldnt be able to have a car. I dont really know.
