D was accepted and Dean’s award. Hurray! Congrats to all, maybe we will see you in September.

For applicants who did not use the expedited decision application, does Brandeis ever notify early, or is everyone else notified on the common notification date?

Ugh, I’m in Texas and got invited, so I doubt I’ll get mine until Tuesday…

P.S. I think the invitations happen for lots of reasons. I sent my ACT (35) to them back in April, and had a very successful interview over the summer, so I think that’s how I got it.

I was accepted with the Trustee’s Scholarship!
My envelope came yesterday. Good luck to everyone else!

Texas, and just got accepted!

In my packet, they had a letter about asking for something for need-based aid. There was no letter for any non-need based aid. Would the college be waiting for the other part of my financial aid package before offering non-need based aid?

Huge envelope came yesterday. My daughter was accepted, received a Justice Brandeis scholarship and the Lerman-Neubauer Fellowship. She also received notice from the college board that she was a national merit finalist, so she will hopefully receive that scholarship as well.

BTW, is there a facebook site for the class of 2014?

[Brandeis University Class of 2014 | Facebook](<a href=“Facebook Public Group | Facebook”>Facebook Public Group | Facebook)

Thanks! I think she will enjoy the site. She is super-psyched!

I got my envelope yesterday but didn’t get any merit based award but I didn’t have my CSS profile filled out. For everyone that got a scholarship, did you all have your CSS profile filled out or not?
I’m nervous now cause I’m really excited to get accepted at Brandeis but can’t go if I don’t get enough money … there’s no way my parents would pay $50,000 a year:(

Sharans I’m pretty sure that you cannot be awarded merit-based aid until you have “Completed the College Board’s CSS/Financial Aid PROFILE.”

[Applying for Assistance | Office of Student Financial Services | Brandeis University](<a href=“First-Year Applicants | How to Apply for Aid | Financial Aid | Office of Student Financial Services | Brandeis University”>First-Year Applicants | How to Apply for Aid | Financial Aid | Office of Student Financial Services | Brandeis University)

So if you did not fill out the CSS then even if you qualify for merit-based aid, it would not be awarded until you fill it all out.

Got accepted!

I filled out CSS and they said I do not qualify for need based. Do you need to qualify for need-based financial aid to get a merit scholarship or are merit scholarships unrelated to need based?
Dont know as I heard that Brandeis is/was having money issues and was only going to give merit to those who are need-based.

Two years ago my son received a merit scholarship and we did not qualify for need based aid. One has nothing to do with the other.

We did not quality for need based either but we DID file a CSS profile. We were told at our Brandeis visit this must be done before any money - merit or need based can be awarded.

My son was accepted and received a $28,290 Alumni and Friends Scholarship. Very exciting; congratulations to all!

Thanks eli. Is it true that Brandeis is having money problems though(more than the normal problems all colleges are having during this recessions)?
Also, will my chances of getting a bigger award be lower if I submitted my CSS Profile late?

Accepted as well! Congrats everyone! Unfortunately, I don’t qualify for need-based aid… and it said little about merit scholarship, just something about a loan. Is this the last we will hear from Brandeis until we put in a deposit? Because some schools notify about more scholarships after the initial admissions decision.

Congratulations to those who were accepted, and wishing better news soon for those who were waitlisted. D hasn’t received her decision yet, although we’re in southeastern PA and between the mail not being delivered on two days over the last week, and the holiday weekend, our mail delivery has been very spotty. Hopefully the decision will arrive on Tuesday, but with more snow coming late Monday night into Tuesday AM, who knows…?

Brandeis is in financial straits, but then again every school is. I was reading an article about loses in endowment throughout the country. Yale and Harvard both are down 30%!

Below is an article from “The Justice” which is the Brandeis newspaper. They are planning on cutting some programs it’s a shame, but I guess necessary.

http://media.www.thejusticeonline.com/media/storage/paper573/news/2010/02/09/News/Brandeis.2020.Report.To.Be.Released.In.February-3867657.shtml

Although restructuring some programs, similar to many other major schools, my understanding is that Brandeis remains committed to student financial aid, both need-based and merit-based. New programs like the Justice Brandeis Semester and the new Business major are very exciting innovations.

Congrats to all those accepted to Brandeis. My son also was accepted. They sent a letter saying they needed another piece of paperwork for financial aid which I sent. He was not offered any merit scholarships (disappointing as he has very good stats). Do you know when we will be notified re: financial aid or if there will be any additional notification re: merit scholarships? Thanks!
