I just wondering if anyone who's decided to go to Miami, not rich, white (nothing racial) , and not a party person?

Well, I'm about as close to that description as you can get...

I'm pretty middle class, but I certainly wouldn't have been able to attend Miami without the mega scholarship, I'm Korean (adopted at 4 months), and I don't drink or party. How's that? LOL

I wouldn't be able to go to Miami without the good financial aid package they gave me too. I guess it pays to be smart and a minority. Lol.

i'd have to say i'm pretty much 'typical' except i don't party, if that helps at all

where you guys from?

i'm from CT-- where are you from? hey aussie, so you are going the pre-med route and minoring in German? i'm doing basically the same thing, but i'm minoring (or possibly majoring) in Spanish

I'm from New York City. Gonna be real weird to be in small town all of a sudden. Gonna miss shopping and going to the movies. Where are u from, rty456?

Is anyone buying the bedding from the school/place the school sponsors? I can't seem to find the extra long sheets? Why can't they just have regular twin beds?

i'm going to get my sheets and such from somewhere else-- the colors from the college-sponsored place are kind of boring. the beds are about 39-36 x 80 and 8 inches deep, so you can get sheets from other places as long as they fit those measurements. So when is everyone going to orientation? i'm going june 3-4

scoot-- I think I'm going to try to double major in zoology/pre-med and German. Did you take your placement exam? If you tested out of 202, then all you should need for a major is one Spanish class/semester plus possibly an extra class or two.

I'm getting the package, I think. It'll probably be easier than looking around on my own.

That's so cool that you're one day older, scoot698. I still deciding if i should buy the bedding package or not. By the way, don't know if i'm going to orientation. No time and its such a hassle. I'm wondering if i go by plane to cincinnati, how am i going to get to the campus? Oh by the way, is anyone in the honors or scholars program?

aussie- really? that's so cool bc i did place out of spanish 202

marmay- i have no idea how you could get to the campus from cincinatti. maybe there's a bus or something. oh, and i'm in the oxford scholars program

marmay-- you might want to contact Miami and see if they're going to have a shuttle or something for orientation. I'm not sure if there are buses that go to and from Oxford. I'm also in the honors and scholars program.

Hey im from NY too. Albany area though. Im going to orientation june 29-30
and I will be majoring in Bussiness administration and minoring in spanish and history. Maybe you'll be in some of my spanish classes scoot. I will probably test out of 202 as well. Cya all in oxford, send me an AIM if you alll have a chance.

Hi. Just thought I would add something. Miami was my first choice up until the beg. of this year. Instead, I am going to GW. I guess I kinda would have been the typical student. Middle class and white, however, I am not a partier. Don't know if any of you have visited Oxford. Not as exciting NYC, but it is nice. Good Luck to all of you.

My mother brought up something good the other day when we went shopping for bedding. She said why would you buy a comforter so early. She said that I should buy a blanket and the sheets first and get the comforter later. Anyone else gonna do that?

What else should I buy for the dorm?

How was orientation, scoot?

marmay-- orientation was awesome! at first it was a little overwhelming bc there were so many people, but then they broke us into smaller groups, which was good bc i felt more comfortable. But overall, it was a ton of fun, and I had a great experience, and i'm really looking forward to going there in august.

And about dorm stuff-- i'm just going to wait on bigger stuff like a TV and rug and couch until i find out who my roommate is and what she wants to do.

What did you do at Orientation? The schedule is a little vague. Were the seminars interesting and informative or a little dull? Also, I heard that you can't declare a double major until second semester-- is that true? Did you think the advisors were helpful?

Marmay, are you going to orientation? If so, which date? I'm going on the Tuesday-Wednesday one next week.

Bumping this topic up...I'm white and upper middle class, but I'm not preppy and I'm a pretty hardcore liberal. I do like to party though. Anyone else like me in class of 2010?

Im from Rochester, Ny and goin on the 27 and 28 one, anyone else
