Both of my recommendations were submitted online and the application tracker says they are complete. However, in the additional documents it says that the offline counselor and teacher recommendations are not received. Is my application considered complete anyways?
My DS’ app portal says the same thing. I agree it is confusing.
Of course, I don’t know for sure and it’s been a while, but I believe that as long as one says complete, that’s fine. The recs can be transmitted online or they can be sent via mail (offline)…so, they will show up as received as one but not the other… not both. I would call to clarify if you are really concerned, but I seem to remember that from my kids…as long as they are received one way, you should be good to go.
Best of luck.
Ok so I’m still really concerned about this. The offline recommendations are the only things missing from my application. I sent an email to UMD in the middle of September about something totally unrelated to this and got this reply yesterday:
"Thank you for you application. Your file is missing the following items:
*Teacher recommendation letter
*Counselor recommendation letter
Have you submitted these items?"
If they’re waiting for offline recommendations, they are not going to ever receive them… I’m definitely getting the vibe that I will not be considered for admission because of this…
Does anyone have any information on this?
Mine says the same thing and so does my friends. However, in the “other section” it says they have received a teacher & counselor rec letter. I think they have a problem w this system.
Update, I just logged in again and noticed this message at the bottom right:
“PLEASE NOTE: If you have submitted a freshman application, the status of recommendations submitted offline (either on paper or using another online system, such as Naviance) will be listed below the heading of “Other Supporting Documents” in the document tracking area (at left).”
So basically if your counselor/teacher recs. are noted as being submitted in this section, it means they have the documents.
Yeah, I’m trying not to worry about it too much since other people are having this problem, but it just made me really concerned when they replied saying my file was missing the recommendations even though they’re submitted online… Ugh this is confusing and stressful and I really wish they would fix it because it seems like this is a problem every year @laughandlearn23
To the life of me, I do not know why kids today cannot just pickup the phone and call the admissions office to make sure their admissions package is complete. If the admissions office just refers you back to the on-line site tell them you are having problems accessing it or you are confused with the messages you are receiving
I was accepted a few years ago. My offline recommendations still say they haven’t been received so don’t worry about it!
