is applying to academic school binding?

On the common application is the school that you pick to apply to binding? i.e. is it hard to switch schools once/if you are admitted. I'm trying to avoid schools that bind you to the school you are accepted to as I am definitely not ready to make that decision yet. Thanks

No and I’m pretty sure it explicitly states that on the application

oh yeah…just saw that -.- lol thanks anyways

Yeah it’s not binding at all. They just want to get an idea of which area of study you plan on going into.

Answers above are correct. The exceptions are the music and architecture schools though.

Ah yeah forgot about those, my bad.

EDIT: You can still take classes from other schools though, even if you are a music or architecture major, so don’t stress out there. And I think you can even double major across schools, so even though you are binded by your choice of school if you go into music/architecture, it’s not extremely restrictive.

FA is correct. As long as you enter rice as a music or archi major, you can double major in musi/archi and anything else. I don’t think you would want to double-major with architecture though (that is, if you like sleep).
