is campus visit essential to get into NU?

many kids from my school will be applying RD to NU - with great stats and ECs. I have the stats as well, but have not visited NU; my friends have.

Will this be held against me in the admissions process, since we are about a 5 hr drive from NU? I gathered a lot of info from friends and NU's website, but am wondering if a campus visit is considered as demonstrated interest, especially when your peers have all visited?

Thanks!

A campus interest is not necessary but it could help. I didn't visit the campus when I applied RD to Northwestern. I still got in.

Nope! I live an hour and a half from campus, but I never even saw the campus in person until Wildcat Days, the admitted student weekend. =)

In the OP's case, a campus visit may help since so many from your school are applying with equal stats & have visited. It is not required, but a visit will show demonstrated interest.
