how about just theft in general? could anyone inform me of theft problems at UCLA, USC, Berkeley, NYU, and UCSD?

car theft - no
car vandalism - yes
regular theft - most certainly

If you're worried about stuff like that, don't go to USC.

The most common type of vehicle theft on campuses is theft of motorcycles and scooters. I've seen people just pick up a bike and toss it in a pick-up and drive off. Other vehicle theft is probably on par with the rest of the area at those respective schools.

They've gotta be pretty strong to pick up a motorcycle.

Not really - obviously its not a one person job, but two or three guys can get it done easily. We're only talking about an average of 360 lbs. here (and less for scooters)

Every school is required to disclose their crime stats. If you look hard enough on their website, you should be able to find it. Every school has some crime in it.

just use common sense. use a club. don't leave the doors open, don't leave valuables outside in the open, etc.

College and University Campus Crime Statistics

Here is a website with crime statistics for all the colleges, look under motor vehicle theft.
