Is Chicago first choice?

My son's first choice is UChicago, but it will depend on finaid somewhat.

texastaximom -
IMO the parent's forum can get worse than any of the others.

It's my first choice. Ooh, I hope I get in. If I do, Max P's going to be my first choice. Wouldn't fancy cleaning the bathrooms, though, I'm incredibly lazy.

jnumberscpcnumbers: "After all, this is the internet."

Amen, although I don't wholly agree with your prickological analysis. It's easier to feign compatability with everyone in order to achieve a cosmopolitan image than to be a prick. I don't see how you can contest that, no matter how many kids you forced to kiss your gym shoes. ;)

I might have to reduce my e-insults to e-raillery just for that internet comment. ;)

im sorry if i sounded like a d-ck, i didnt mean to. just because chicago was my #4 or #5 choice doesnt mean i dont want to go there. it just means i have 4 or 5 places that id be really happy going to. im not bein all "chicago? i pi$s on that. im better than y'all but good luck, maybe youll get lucky and attend this crap institution. lucky for me i wont have to." i like chicago, if i didnt, why would i have taken the time to fill out the app and drive 8 hours each way to see the school? no offense, but everyone on the chicago board is so critical. damn. why cant you just be like, "congrats" like everyone else?

why don't you post on the general section instead?

because the question of the post is, "is chicago [your] first choice?" and i replied. no, it isnt. can i not? i have just as much of a right as you do to reply to the post. i applied too.

C'mon people, let's act like decent citizens here. Take the flames to your PM boxes. Sheesh.

Xandero, I applied to St. Johns MD too, and I got in..like a week after they received my app (hella cool of them), but it costs wayyyyyy too much money. They gave me no aid! are you considering it?

"Now, I’m not attacking you, like I said, I was a major prick. Sophomore year, I joined the tennis team and there was a kid who sat in my usual seat on the bus ride to matches. I poked fun of him all the way to the match and half way back home (school). He was so angry that he got up to feign a punch at me and I got up right there with him. Prickery rule number one: keep your steps in a certain boundary, but keep your steps close, so that your persistent nuisance will cause the real victim to step out of line so that you have an excuse to totally demolish him. So what happened was, I was going to destroy him but we made a deal: he needs to kiss my gym shoes on my feet. I’m not proud of that or any other prick moments I have done in the past; there is really no need for it."

That's a horrible story.

chicago = my backup, but since it gives merit aid i might consider it! i'm beginning to like it more and more though...

im feeling prety bad because i thought chicago was gonna be one of my lower choices, so i spent a really low amount of time working on the app (i think I might have even left some ECs off because the stupid online thing was going so slow and you have to put them in one at a time) and my essay was pretty hastily thrown together... now, its definitely one of my top 3 or 4 choices (with me not knowing which one of those at all is my top choice) and i feel like a total idiot.

Anyways, moral of the story for you kids (juniors) out there, take the uncommon app very seriously, as chicago is a much more attractive school than it appears at first glance.

wellesleygirl, the University of Chicago is honored to have a student of your caliber deign low enough to consider them. Absolutely honored!

And Brinestrom, it’s the internet so I suggest you let loose all of your pent up hate for disagreeable people. Anybody who is offended by an internet comment by somebody they don’t’ even know deserves to be offended.

Onemom, thanks! I hope so too. Maclean was made into a dorm in 1991. It's a lovely, old brick building near the hospitals, classic, but near to the center of campus.

(Speaking of prick-dom, it's 'deign to consider,' not 'deign low enough.' :))

WOW! Looks like Chicago is the first choice for so many of you!
Just wanted to say GOOD LUCK! I hope it all goes well !!

You guys all deserve to go to some place amazing. Just keep in mind that you will end up going to a wonderful place that is just PERFECT for you, and you will be very happy :)

If Chicago doesn't work out for you, that is their loss.
Everyone ends up at a place they are destined for, so keep your heads up! Never lose the faith and remember that dreams do come true (I am a firm believer hehe)!!!
Whatever happens, it will all work out.
In the rare case that things don't work out for you this year, there is always transfer or taking a gap year, don't worry! :D

GOOD LUCK!

Always, C xx

thanks for correcting me. i still need to practice my grammar and such after wasting k to 9th grade. is it just wrong or is it just awkward: "deign low enough"?

ps. you'd be impressed by my progress though. last year, i couldn't even come close to writing any of the essays i posted here.
