Is City College of New York safe to apply ?

<p>I was thinking of applying to a low SAT score demanding college to ensure that I am not out of college the next year. So, I thought CCNY.
Its having SAT Score Range:
CR: 450-510
Math: 520-580</p>

<p>But how is this being 10% selective?
Anyway is it right to keep it as a safety campus?
I took the SAT this October and expect to get way above this scores.</p>

<p>I maybe wrong but I think ccny acceptance is based on exclusively on scores, so it can be your safety </p>
