I am really interested in going to CCNY. I have about a 3.3 overall GPA (excluding senior year) I just took the SAT and will be taking the ACT at the end of the month. The first time I took the SAT I got a 1450. I am from California and my college counselor told me that would help in my acceptance. Why is the acceptance rate so low and what are my chances of getting in?

CCNY is a CUNY college in NYC. Acceptance rate is not that high but its not that competitive either. You should be able to make it in.

I think the reason is really simple… because we want to make the school smaller and more academically sound. When we admitted too many unqualified students, and when classes are full before half of the juniors could register classes, we would face lots of problems. For example, people can’t graduate on time.

What are my chances of getting in? And are CCNY and Brooklyn College in nice areas?

If you come to NYC, there’s ALOT to do. (: CCNY is not in a good neighborhood. Brooklyn College’s area is alright.
