i mean we have so few classes that even tho I do quite a lot of study, i have too much free time! (which is a good thing ^_^)

like for example, today i had class from 9:30 till 10:45, studied at the library until 2:30 (1 hour lunch break between), had class from 2:30 ~4, and thats the end of my day.

so i can bum around/drink/party after 4
anybody feeling the same thing?
and i dont go to some community college either (its a tier 1 school)

College for me is ridiculously hard right now. It may be because I am taking on way too much. I filled most of my elective classes already with AP tests and I tested out of a lot of classes for my major. I am involved with clubs, and I have track 4 hours a day. However, it does force me to get my work done on time.

I have 16 units with a job and trying to stay on crew. Is it NOT easy for me!!! I feel so depressed because I might have to give up crew because I'm demanding so much time from myself.

High school requires a minimum of 7 or so hours a day, no matter what classes you take or what you do outside of school.

College is different. You decide what to make your experience like. Yes, you can get by (even in some very good schools) without doing a lot of work, but why would you want to? Aren't you there to learn/experience as much as you can?

Or you could be diving into some productive ECs that would be fun and would give you skills that would help you discover a career path and would eventually impress prospective employers and graduate schools.

heh northstarmom i am involved in lots of ECs (soccer, orchestra, volunteer at animal shelter), but most of these take up time during lunch breaks! and even on some days these happen have 4, i still have like free time from 7 oclock ><

i guess its been quite esay for me because i havent had lots of assignments, but we'll see how things get when the mid terms close on hehe

eos,
I've been wondering about that, too. My son has alot of school work as an engineering major, a job and music lessons and ensemble rehearsals. But he also says that his classes are pretty easy ... just a lot of busy work. I don't think he has much time or inclination for drinking and partying, though. We'll see when semester grades come in!

My son WISHES college were that easy. He has 19 units, including two bands, and must spend hours a day practicing his instrument, as well. With private lessons, ensembles, and classes, he sometimes has classes (with some breaks, but not long ones) from 8 a.m. until 8 p.m. And then homework to do after that.
Count your blessings, eos!

I have like 7 hours of free time every day (from 12 am to 7 am), most of which I use to sleep (sometimes, I use like 3 - 4 hours of those 7 hours to do homework). So yeah, college is meant to be THAT easy.

I'm a freshman taking 20 credits and am involved with several clubs.

I still have way too much time to just sit around with friends watching crap TV and surfing Facebook and (unfortunately gossip and eat junk food etc).

And yet, I never find enough hours to get a decent amount of sleep.
