D threw us a curve today--"I'm thinking of applying to Colorado State U.". Hmmm... Wasn't on the radar previously, but with WUE exchange, the cost could be less than in-state options, which she knows may be the deciding factor. Does anyone have any experience with CSU? Everything on paper looks like a good fit--large school with sports, smaller college town, Greek row, within an hour of a major airport, has D's intended major, etc. Would love to hear from those who know someone who goes there if it's a commuter college where many go home on weekends. That would be the deal-breaker for D. She does not want to be "home alone" in her dorm. Thanks!

No it’s not. It and CU Boulder are the two major non commuter publics in Colorado. There are some students who go home on the weekends but most people stay on or near campus. This is purely second hand information. One of the people in my sorority transferred from CSU to my current school because of her major not being offered (couldn’t get into Mines).

Keep in mind that WUE at CSU requires very high stats for B students. If you haven’t looked at the criteria, click here:

Their WUE is competitive, but they have the qualifying info on their website.
It has a great residential campus in a nice city. My daughter applied as it has one of the better programs in her area of interest, and we have a neighbor (Seattle suburbs) there as a freshman.
