is computer engineering of sjsu really no.5

i have seen on the site of san jose state university that their engineering school i s at 14th position by us news and the computer engineering is at no.5,i dun believe that DO YOU?????

Do you have a link? I can't seem to find that claim on the SJSU site.

The stated rankings are correct; however, SJSU doesn't fall under the category of "National Universities." Since SJSU doesn't offer PhDs, it's not ranked along side universities such as MIT, Stanford or UC Berkeley.

Being ranked on the non-PhD list is like winning the Special Olympics.

Ouch, Im_blue, that's a bit harsh, don't you think? For example, I would argue that Harvey-Mudd is every bit as competitive in engineering at the undergrad level to any of the famous engineering schools, yet Mudd doesn't offer PhD's.

Well, there are a handful of good non-PhD engineering programs, like Harvey Mudd, Cooper Union, Rose Hulman, and Olin, but it drops off steeply after that. I don't think anyone would claim that SJSU has any sort of prestige in engineering, even though it may be ranked #5.
