Is CSS profile required if "no" was selected for financial aid at CommonApp?

My daughter selected "no" for need-based financial aid at CommonApp, but I was recently told by some friends that she still needed to file a CSS profile for each of the schools she applied. Is this true? If she file the profile, will it negatively affect her application? Thanks.

No she does not need to file. No one has to file CSS Profile if they aren’t asking for aid. It’s an app for AID…it is not an app for admissions.

Thanks.

She only needs to complete the Profile if she is applying for need based aid. If not, nope…doesn’t need to be done.

If your friends ask that again, ask them, "do you think Bill Gates’ kids submitted CSS Profile? Do you think Chelsea Clinton did? Do you think the Bush grandkids do? Do you think the Kennedy grandkids do? " No. No one is obligated to reveal their finances to a college if they’re full pay and not asking for money.

We are not submitting the CSS, but we did file the FAFSA, because at some schools, it is a requirement for merit awards. We had filed the FAFSA prior to deciding what school she was attending, and the school she chose is a FAFSA and CSS school.

She will not qualify for any need based institutional aid at her school, so no CSS.
