Is Dentistry-School generally easier than Med-School? Work wise, sleep wise, study and class wise.

Everyone on this board is probably going to say yes :).

At a few schools, including mine, dentistry students take the same pre-clincial science classes as medical students. I would say that they actually have it harder than we do, because they have a more stringent grading system. The flip side though is they won’t necessarily be going at it as long if you factor in residency.

Dental School is usually more work… You have the basic sciences that med students have to take yet you also have labs, dental stuff, etc that you have to do on the same time.

Dentistry school is honestly harder? Wouldnt it be easier since you only have to learn about the mouth and not the entire body?

^ Well, dentists (and other “specialty” doctorates like Podiatry, Optometry, etc.) still learn about the whole body, but at a much more basic level than physicians - they obviously focus most of their attention on their particular area of interest. They still need an idea of how the body works as a whole and relates to their area of expertise. Its also important because they can prescribe drugs that affect the whole body.

I did not see any dental threads; but, I am also interested in the following related questions:

1) How difficult is it to get into the dental school?
2) Is the reading part in DAT as difficult as the MCAT verbal?

Thanks

1) Still not a cakewalk. There are less of them after all
2) No, it’s not. Some parts of the DAT are different though, and that in itself presents its unique kind of difficulty.

I heard that it is much harder to get to Dental School. I do not have any data to support it.
