Is early lodging worth the extra money?

I'll be attending the September orientation, and I'm wondering if early lodging is worth it.

Yes
,

No? I don’t see any reason. Unless you have weird circumstances. For example, if no one can help you move in on the normal move in day.
It doesn’t give you any extra benefits to move in early. You’ll make friends with your suitemates and others no matter when you move in.

Depends how far you live from UCSD. In our case S will be doing the early move in because it takes so long to get back home we’re not making 2 six hour each way trips. Orientation on Thursday drive home Friday drive back Saturday-for us it makes sense to do early move in.

Totally agree with 3down. I’m coming from norcal and I immediately took early lodging.

Does anyone know how much it is per day if we want to move in early?

idk but it seemed mandatory for sixth even though I live in SD

@Transfergirl

$30 per day. 2 days = $60. You have to pay for your own meals though because the meal plan does not start until after.

I’m not sure what college you’re from, but when I had my September orientation, we got to move in early as a part of orientation (fees from orientation included early move-in). Meals were also included. I’m a Warren student, btw.

^I’m assuming the OP means earlier than that.

^ Correct me if I’m wrong but when we moved in for orientation, wasn’t it the same early-move in date as the early move-in date you pay for?

^Well, I wouldn’t think s,o otherwise the people who don’t do it would miss orientation by that standard. I think it means moving in even earlier than that. Orientation was the day after move in.

For early lodging, we can move in on Sep 15, and orientation starts on Sep 16-17. That’s for revelle, but I’m not sure about the other colleges.

Well, I just looked at the warren website and saw this…

Sept. 15 - Freshman Move-In for Warren College Residential Life
Sept. 16-17 - Warren College Freshman Orientation Program

I’m not quite sure if the same applies to Revelle. Maybe you should ask virtual advising?
