I don't mean applying/prereqs and stuff, but just the fact that there seem to be around 14/15 upper divs that would have to be taken in order to graduate from Haas, compared to 8 for econ (which is what many pre-Haas kids see as their back up major). I originally wanted a biz/applied math simultaneous degree, I now want to try CS out, and lets just say my future schedules aren't looking too pretty (2 math, 3 biz and 1 CS each sem - unless I do summer school).

Is there really a great advantage that comes from graduating with a Haas degree as opposed to econ? (with regards to networking and job prospects)

hahaha ucbalumnus, I began thinking about this when you posted the “what can I do” things in one of my earlier threads. I saw econ and business had similar career prospects in similar firms (almost exactly)…but then I realized there may be a lot of double majors, and there’s also a sort of bias since people choose to answer.

I don’t want to be a butthurt Haas reject, but I think Haas isn’t as great as it used to be considering everything is curved now…

I remember people used to say how easy college was once you got into Haas. A’s were just handed out to everyone. Now, not anymore.

But the prestige is still there.

haha yeah, I’m aware of the curve and all thanks for the additional info! It actually isn’t as bad as I thought it was! (really nothing less than a B?)

But my main question is whether the prestige/opportunities gained from Haas (+ backpack and free printing of course) is worth the additional 7ish courses that an econ major doesn’t have to take.

However… take Yahoo News with a grain of salt (read the comments for great laugh lol!).

I’ve read that too! It was in the WSJ on friday I believe? XD lol…the comments are great…and completely true haha

I posted this right after I did. I thought Haas may not completely fit that since there is UGBA 105,107 and other electives? But hey, if they even cite Wharton…
