SO.

I'm an AP student. Our school offers both.

I have 3 APs, but I'm currently taking a IB foreign language and about to take IB English HL for the sole reason that our AP lang teacher doesn't teach at all and i don't want a bad grade on the exam

so here's the question

1) how important is a 5 on ap lang?
2) how bad is it to NOT take ap lit?
3) is mixing bad if we aren't diploma-ing?

some facts.

i am interested in English, but i want ABSOLUTELY NOTHING TO DO WITH ENGLISH in my future. i have NO ECs related to English.

I just want to take a “challenging but not too challenging” English course.

oh yes, and the reason why i say “how bad is it not to take ap lit” is becuase well… i think ap lit is one of those courses that we should probably take anyways.

here’s what i want:

1) to look like i’m taking a challenging English course
2) and am doing well in English

doing well in English includes good AP exam scores unless colleges don’t really look at those.

if i do take IB ENGLISH HL **i will have the same teacher for FOUR years. ** is that good or bad?

you can do an IB class solely just for the credit, you do not have to be a diploma candidate to take IB classes (i know plenty of ppl at my school doing it)

HL English is fine. it isn’t that hard imo, so good luck. i can’t speak from the AP perspective.
