<p>You don’t NEED IB. You need to show you are a well-qualified student, and IB is one way to do that. It can be harder for US universities to judge the grades and rigor of programs at international schools, so having some sort of external assessment of your skills can be useful. It does not have to be IB, though. AP is also useful, but it’s possible to go to good US universities without these.</p>
