Is Indiana a good fit?

Next Year: Calculus BC, Statistics, Macro/Micro Economics

Hoping for a good rec from my Calculus teacher

School is ranked #55 in the nation by U.S. News & World Report if that helps much

Almost forgot, I was also wondering about the application…
Does Indiana require an essay or teacher recs?

No essay or teacher recs required.

80% shot you’re in. Your GPA is a bit low. Also, what do you mean by “SAT: 1240/1820” Do u mean first try/second try?

cr+math and total

Yeah, like Twigman27 explains, her SAT is 1240 out of 1600 and 1820 out of 2400 (meaning her SAT writing score was 580). These scores are slightly above the university average–which was about 1181 (out of 1600) last year and also above the Kelley school average, which was about 1222 (out of 1600)last year. Since she took three AP courses in addition to the regular courses, she should be admitted based upon the stats.

so they’re not “optional” or anything? because some schools don’t require teacher recs and essays but will accept them anyways. however i’m not looking for a scholarship.

sorry if my SAT wasn’t clear. i got 1240 with just reading +math, and for all three sections i got an 1820. 680 M, 560 CR, 580 W.
I’ve also taken 4 honors courses and my unweighted GPA is a 3.03.

Indiana will accept essays and teacher recs also. They only look at them, however, for borderline candidates. You are slightly above borderline in my view. The 4 honors courses that move your GPA up to 3.25 weighted from the otherwise unweighted 3.03 is what should get you in.

P.S. Make sure your school puts the weighted 3.25 GPA on your transcript. Either that or have your counselor/principal put it in a signed letter to IU-B. The admission people at IU-B will use whatever is on the transcript–and if the 3.03 GPA gets put on the transcript instead, they will use that–which would hurt your chances for admission.

Good luck!
