Currently i am planning to take 18 credits and have a part time job.
Is this too much?
I am only going to be a freshman and i want to have a social life. will this be hard to do with so many credits?

That may depend on the courses. My daughter is taking 15 and we think those are too intensive to take another course. Those are BIOL 110, CHEM 110, CHEM 111, MATH 140 and VB SC. You may want to scale back to 15 knowing you have the job.

depends on the classes. 18 science/math/physics classes your freshmen year will be tought and require a quick adjustment to college life and time managment on your part.

18 credits of business/lib arts classes will not be as bad.

i took 19 for the past two semesters and it’s certainly manageable. And if you can handle 18 for your first semester, odds are in your favor that you can handle more for the remaining years. Meaning you can add a minor or double major or something like that.

you can have a social life outside of 6 classes so you don’t need to worry about that at all. Plus if it’s too tough for you, just drop a class before the late drop deadline and it won’t count against you.

Exactly, it depends on the classes. My son always took 18, sometimes even had 19, and worked and was a mentor. But as a first semester freshman, even if classes aren’t awful, I’d either take the 18 and barely work, or take 15 and work. You have a lot to get used to :)

Is 19 credits too much for a Junior in engineering with labs and engineering courses?

Hmmm…are you working too? Or is it all class, and how many have you maxed out on in the past?

My son’s junior year was his WORST, and he made it through, but I think for many, that’s the case. Junior year stinks.

Are any classes online or humanities?

Yeah Junior year stinks ;)…I probably shoulda picked a better year to be President of an Org :-P. But lil I would say it depends on your other activities. Just 19 credits certainly is doable.

This is what I’m taking along with a part-time job.

M E 345 (4) - includes 4 hour lab every week
MATSE 259 (3)
M E 320 (3)
E MCH 315 (2)
E MCH 316 (1) - lab
EGEE 120 (3) - probably drop this for MUSIC 008 if I can get in it
ENGL 015 (3) - LOL

I think that is a little crazy. But then again I’m not an engineer. If you can I would cut it down to maybe 2-3 engieering classes/sem and maybe throw in some geneds/minor classes. But if you need this to stay on track to grad in 4 years then more power to ya.

What happened with ENGL 15?

^I hate to write, and I tried to stay away from it. I guess I have to take it eventually… :(

thats a pretty brutal looking schedule to me lil_killer…
