Is it a good thing if Johns Hopkins sends me a letter?

Hey Johns Hopkins sent me a letter saying we want you here and stuff. Is that like normal, or are they scoutin me out. Keep in mind I just took PSAT's soo yeah I thought i did pretttyyy weeellll

it means absolutely nothing...

ok
thats wut I thought
but for a second i was gettin a inflated head and thinkin
"oh boy i musta nailed the PSAT"

means nothing lol I got the letter too, you just probably found your way on their mailing list, trust me Hopkins doesnt need to recruit or scout anyone lol. Did you do CTY? Thats why I am on their list

Unless you checked a special box on the PSAT, you were entered into Student Search. Colleges can get your address, and if you did remotely well you will start to recieve a deluge of mail. It's fun for a while, but it quickly becomes annoying. However, it is a useful resource for learning about random schools that are good, but tiny. ;)

i'd still get a big head and get all cocky, it's just what I do.

No I did not do CTY. But thisis Johns Hopkins people, could this mean i did well on the PSAT?

colleges dont get your psat score or sat score unless you send it to them so there is no way jhu would know how you did...

morgan17, you're wrong. Basically what colleges do is ask for students in a certain score range from the PSAT. However, they do not receive your actual PSAT. For example, Harvard may get all emails/addresses of students ranging from math 750-800, verbal 750-800, etc. Hence, why SriLankanGangsta received a letter from Hopkins, because his PSAT score was in a high range.

i recieved a letter from jhu my sophmore year and i only got an 1130 back then

but im sure your right and they do have SOME ranges...however, i dont think just because a college sends you a letter you DEFINATLY recieved a score in their range..actually i really dont know...lol...so ill take your word for it

xindianx- you are correct, but the ranges the colleges use are much, much larger. they send it to anyone they may accept, so people with around 1100 still get letters from harvard and MIT and stuff, because if theyre athletes they have a chance of getting in
